Stephanie Simmonite

Name: Stephanie Simmonite

Country: United Kingdom

Date of Birth: 9th October 1969

You can’t really look at rallying in the 90s without hearing the name Simmonite. Starting in off road racing thanks to her father, David, designer of the “Simmbugghini” off road buggy; Stephanie was a great addition to the Ford line up. After winning the 1995 Pirelli Ladies Cup in a Honda Civic, she moved to Ford for 1996, driving a Group A RS2000 prepared and run by Chris Birkbeck Rally Sport. This was a relationship set to last for three years, and brought more success for Stephanie and her younger sister, and co-driver, Rachael. The Bradford pair were to win a further two Ladies Cup titles, in 1996 and 1997, and only finishing second to Barbara Armstrong in 1998. Since those days, both sisters have returned to their roots with off road racing, winning the British Championship in 1999. They are also the only non-native team to win the French Tout Terrain championship, which they conquered in 2001.
